100 Days

Incredible Courage 100 Days – Quatre Bras:

This is the base game and the other 100 Days games cannot be played without this one

The Quatre Bras Box Cover:

This is a great game, with plenty of detail, of the critical Battle of Quatre Bras fought between Marshall Ney and the Duke of Wellington on 16 June 1815.  The battle is an excellent example of a Meeting Engagement, which will provide you the ability to easily alter the flow of the battle, and its tempo.  The French II Corps, reinforced with the Light Cavalry of the Imperial Guard, is ordered to take the crossroads and send some troops to the east to help Napoleon, who is fighting the Prussians.  This game will smoothly connect to the Ligny battlefield maps when the Ligny game is released.  This game contains the Order of Battle charts, and supporting charts, for the entire 4 game set.

Scenarios include:
The Battle of Quatre Bras – for those of you who want to play the entire event.
15 June 1815 – for those who want a really small scenario that plays quickly.  The French Lancers of the Imperial Guard attempt to outmaneuver the small Dutch/Nassau force holding just north of Frasnes and take the crossroads in a quick battle.
Counter-Attack at Thyle – for those who want a really small scenario that plays quickly.  The French must take the town of Thyle and the British must hold it.  Counter density is very low.
Hooves of Destruction – where the French Cuirassiers and Lancers of Pire’s 2nd Cavalry Division manage to catch a British Battalion unprepared for a cavalry charge and the unthinkable happens.
The Guard Attacks – the British Guard has popped out of the Bois de Bossu and is hitting the French to push them south.  Their over-zealous pursuit puts them in a bad position when the French cavalry again begins some fine charges.

Incredible Courage 100 Days – Ligny:

Incredible Courage 100 Days – Quatre Bras is required to play this game

The Ligny Box Cover:

Incredible Courage 100 Days – Ligny is the second installment in a 4 game set that explores Napoleon’s 100 Days campaign that ended his reign and finished his aspirations as emperor of France.  This was Napoleon’s Last Victory and he managed it against an enemy force that was larger than his own.  The best part of this game is that the French Imperial Guard is located at this battle.  Incredible Courage 100 Days – Quatre Bras is required to play this game.
There are 7 scenarios included in this game and 3 of them are on the small side in terms of unit density.  These scenarios include “The Battle of Ligny”, “The Battle for the Amand’s”, “The Fight for St Amand”, “The Battle for Ligny”, “The Guard Assault on Ligny”, “Pinning the III Korps”, and “Boignee”.  “The Battle of Ligny” scenario takes you into the fight for the entire battle.  With all its intricate details and nuances that show how the Prussians kept feeding the II Korps Reserves into the I Korps battle for the Amand’s, and the battle for the town of Ligny proper.  In “The Battle for the Amand’s” both players will be faced with how to take or hold a series of villages that are crawling with Prussians.  The tight terrain makes the fight extremely hard and yet the French force more and more of the Prussian II Korps reserves to be moved to this area.  A smaller scenario that focuses on this area is “The Fight for St Amand” which has one French division making its attack and seeing the Prussians respond.  In “The Battle for Ligny” the French are assigned the unenviable task of pushing a brigade of Prussians out of the town.  In “The Guard Assault on Ligny” the French player is making the final attack of the day with the Imperial Guard.  This is their last success.  “Pinning the III Korps” is the situation on the French right flank and holding the Prussian III Korps in place as the other forces fight the main battle.  The last scenario is a hypothetical.  In “Boignee” the Prussian player is forced to make an attack on the French right and see if he can change the course of the battle by making Napoleon react to that.

There are a couple of interesting options for inclusion into scenarios in this game.

  • The French VI Corps arrives earlier
  • The Prussian III Korps is Pinned and can’t cross the Ligny Stream

This game features the final map artwork of Rick Barber. The map for this Ligny game can be connected to the maps for the Quatre Bras battlefield.  Together they make a clean, connected, battle space that will leave you with your jaw hanging open as you see just how close to the Ligny battlefield D’Erlon was and how easily he could have made an impact on either battle had he been able to march to one place or the other undisturbed.

Incredible Courage 100 Days – Waterloo:

Incredible Courage 100 Days – Quatre Bras and Incredible Courage 100 Days – Ligny are required to play this game

The Waterloo Box Cover:

Incredible Courage 100 Days – Waterloo is the crowning game in the set that explores Napoleon’s 100 Days campaign that ended his reign and finished his aspirations as emperor of France.  Both Quatre Bras and Ligny are required to play this game.
There are 7 scenarios included in this game.  These scenarios include “The Battle of Waterloo”, “That Darned Chateau”, “All for a Farm”, “I Can Break Them”, “Don’t They Ever Quit”, “I Can Break Them”, “The Immortals Attack”, “The Battle of Waterloo – Earlier Start”, and “The Battle of Waterloo – Historical”.  “The Battle of Waterloo” scenario will give you the complete battle from start to finish with the most flexibility to fight the battle as you want.  “That Darned Chateau” is the battle for Hougomont which sucked in both the French 6 th and 9 th Infantry Divisions and still failed!  “All for a Farm” shows you the problems specific to La Haye Saint.  “I Can Break Them” is the greatest cavalry episode of the Napoleonic Wars and you get to see if you can break some British squares.  “Don’t They Ever Quit?” is the Prussian attack against Placenoit and the French reactions to it with the commitment of the Young Guard and a small part of the Old Guard.  “The Immortals Attack” is the finale of the battle and shows how the French Imperial Guard is pushed back off the ridge and sent packing.  And lastly “The Battle of Waterloo – Earlier Start” allows you to do some investigating if it would have been better for Napoleon to start the battle earlier in the day.  “The Battle of Waterloo – Historical” is the just that.  As an added feature the rules supplement has a short section describing how to use the unit counters from the Waterloo game, those of the French I Corps, to aid the earlier battles for Quatre Bras and Ligny.
This game features the final map artwork of Rick Barber.

There are a number of interesting options for inclusion into scenarios in this game.

  • Soggy Ground for those that want to try the earlier start time

  • The French 7th Infantry Division does not take as bad a hammering at Ligny and is available to help
  • The French 21st Infantry Division of the VI Corps does not get detached to Grouchy and is available
